teachers of good things...

'the aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;' (titus 2:3)

aged women?? but, i'm not old...

in behaviour as becometh holiness?? but, i'm not holy...

'that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love heir husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.' (titus 2:4 & 5)

teach young women... hmm, maybe.

all day, for days i searched.
you tube, blogs, websites, pinterest...
searching, searching, searching for some sort of Christian encouraging something, anything.
i found nothing. zip.

then the conversation between Papa and myself started...

'i want you to start something donna.'

'yes, you.
i want you to be a teacher of good things.'

'but, Papa, i'm the one searching for encouragement...'

'i know donna, that's why i want you to start something.
that's why i want you to be a teacher of good things.'

jumping in head first like i always do, i chose the blog name, of good things.
i set up an email account, ofgoodthings@gmail.com.
i was ready to start... something.

'now wait.'

'yes, wait donna. i'll tell you when.'

i hate waiting...

three years later...

'okay, now...
start it now.
open an instagram account, of good things, and start posting.'

'now, start following these encouraging women i bring to your feed.'

'now, download the periscope app so you can watch them and really get to know them!!'

'now, i want you to scope.'

'there's your encouragement, donna, it's in the encouraging.'

'oh, by the way...
you're living your dream now.
you remember your dream right?
to be an encourager of women?
to have a ministry of being an encourager?
of making a little money on etsy?
remember donna? did you notice you're living right in the middle of that now?'
(i'm certain He was smiling at me when He told me that :)

'okay, now i want you to launch the blog.
go ahead and tell all these wonderful ladies, I've connected you with, all the wonderful, good things you've been longing to tell them.
do it now...
pour out your heart...
and be encouraged.'

  1. Oh Donna! This is beautiful! I'm glad you said YES to this! You are light in the darkness! Love you so much!!! Hugs, Anna

  2. Wow! Congrats ms Donna! I LOVE this. Especially "there's encouragement in the encouraging". Reading this has me emotional because I've been there and in a lot of ways still am, also because I too am an encourager of those who are sad, down, depressed, lonely, etc. This has encouraged me SO much! 💕💕💕 God bless you as you step out into the deep with our Daddy God!

  3. your blog is simply simple beauty and grace....congrats.

  4. As a younger woman, I never thought much about being an older woman, much less a wiser one - ha! But as I see my daughter-in-laws going through some of the things I did at their age, I find that, well, maybe I can give some advice. And bless them, they both listen! They don't always take my advice, but they listen and we talk. And as the mother of four sons, I treasure my time with "my girls"! I can't wait to see where the years take us on this great adventure of being "older but wiser!"

  5. Thank you so much for what you do for this community!!! You are such a blessing and your LIGHT shines bright!!

  6. Oh Donna!! I love this!! You are an encourager. You have been an encouragement to me!

One note about the blog though and I don't mean it to be negative but it's really hard to read. The type and font needs to be darker.other than that I'm excited to join your journey. Love you!

  7. Donna this is great. Love the dialogue and yes you do encourage me.
